Shukri's height and weight

Just wanted to put on record that Shukri is now 130 cm tall and 31 kg. He has already reached my shoulder level and he is only 8 years old!! I think he is going to be taller than me before he reaches Primary 6. Wow!!

Time flies...

Oh dear..I knew I didn't update the blog for quite sometime..but I didn't know that it almost been a year..tsk..tsk...tsk. ..lazy me. Anyway, just a quick update.

The boys are now together again at Bukit Timah Primary School. Shukri is now in 2 Hope and is coping well with his P2 studies and learning new things. He is enjoying P2 better since Sadiq and Jeremy are hanging out with him every school day. He is also doing well for his studies. His form teacher also praised him for good behaviour a few times.

As for Sadiq, he is well adjusted to P1 since he has an older brother to take care of him and a cousin in P1 too. He is in 1 Truth and is well liked (i hope) by his teacher, Ms Chitra (who was Joel's form teacher last year). Joel was also his buddy during the orientation. Lucky him...cos two of them actually shared pocket money to buy more food to eat during recess and Joel also tried to fatten him up by teaching him to eat prata and a bowl of noodles at one go!!

Sadiq was nominated to be a AV Leader (I wonder how since the mike stand is taller than him). He was also awarded "Model Pupil" for Term 1 of his class!! I hope his good behaviour will continue....

Thoughtful Shukri...

Recently, the kids started to study in the bedroom with the air-conditoner. So yesterday, I asked Gulam whether the bill came and in jest, we asked Shukri whether we could cut his daily allowance to $1 instead of $2 since electricity is going to cost more. Without thinking, he agreed immediately. Such a thoughtful & sweet boy.

P/s: He has been appointed as a narrator for Zebra group. I think this has something to do with their public speaking lessons. I am proud & glad to say that he is quite confident & happy about the appointment...as compared to the nightmare he had on his first day of school when they had to do "show & tell".

Why Fantastic Four is called Fantastic Four....by Sadiq

A conversation between Shukri & Sadiq:
Sadiq: "Kor Kor, do you know why Fantastic Four is called Fantastic Four?"
Shukri:" Don't know."
Sadiq: "Because the four are fantastic!"

Shukri's First Punishment in School!!

Shukri was punished in school today because he forgot to bring his Chinese textbook. Tsk, tsk, tsk. He had to stand at his desk for 5 minutes. But he did not feel embrassed at all! For the record, the class monitor forgot to bring his textbook too!! : P

Mother & Son

Sadiq told me a story about a King & a princess which he learnt at his speech & drama class yesterday. The ending was that the King kissed the princess & they were married. So he asked me to give him a kiss (which I did) & he said.."Now I can marry Mummy." ha ha..He loves me that much...I should ask him to ask his daddy for his experience in having a wife like me. From this, I also realised the importance of me in his life now..until his girlfriend comes along.

Shukri's Composition

Shukri showed me his first composition titled "My Mother" yesterday & I nearly fainted...His first sentence was "My mother has pimples on her face"!!! Oh my god! Lets hope that the teacher will ask him to write another composition on "My Father" & see how that turns out..hee hee

Sadiq & School

Since the begining of 2007, it has been quite a challenge to bring Sadiq to school. We suspected because all his male Kakis, including KorKor dearest, are in Primary 1 so he is lonely. He will cry whenever he goes to school or comes up with excuses not to go..leg pain, still coughing, feels like vomitting, Rachel bully me or Teacher scolds me . He must have ran out of excuses cos he gave me a new one yesterday.."Teacher is not in today so nobody to teach me today". He went to school yesterday cos I asked the Teacher to call him personally at home to assure him that she was in school.

BTW, he said that he can stay at home to clean the house so there is no need for him to go to school. Alternatively, he can also sweep the leaves by the roads or wash cars. He has such lofty ambitions...SIGH.
